New Beginnings

At the end of last year I was invited to direct and preside over the Young Women at church. What exactly does that mean? I have stewardship over the girls 12-18 to help them grow spiritually, mentally and emotionally.  It's the most rewarding calling and I absolutely love working with these girls. They are smart, genuine and they know how to have fun. There are a few major events throughout the year that these girls organize, one of which is called "New Beginnings".

New Beginnings is an introduction to the opportunities all girls 12-18 can have while attending church and youth group at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All girls who will be turning 12 and who are currently involved with youth group attend, along with families. The evening sums up what we do as "Young Women" and why we do it.

This year the girls chose to follow the Youth Group theme to #EMBARK as our motto for New Beginnings. To us, this means that we will take opportunities to serve God, others and spread light to a world that continues to darken. With a fun skit, musical numbers and personal testimonies about church and youth group, it was a magical night.

We received inspiration from the following video.

The girls performed two musical numbers, #EMBARK and Inside Out (All of the sheet music is free, which is amazing and wonderful.)
